EVENT

PICTURE YOUR STRETFORD

We were based in Stretford Mall for 2 full days, during this time we spoke to over 100 residents and visitors to the area. Lots of people were keen to stop and chat, especially older generations. People were willing to let us know what they liked and disliked about the area with many focusing on what the area used to be like and memories they had of a past Stretford.

We were surprised that most people chose to add something to Stretford as opposed to taking away something they disliked, we felt this represented a sense of optimism and hope for the area and a strong community wish to improve what was on offer.

SAMPLE OF OPINION CLOUDS

Data from the event was collected in quantitative and qualitative forms. All ideas were summarised as best possible in the clouds, then strung up above the elevation for passers by to read. These clouds were then used to record data.

AGE

We managed to speak to a broad age range however found it particularly harder to attract younger passers by.

Opinions gained were of a roughly equal gender split which.

TYPOLOGIES ADDED

This extended pie chart illustrates the types of facilities/buildings etc that participants said they would like to see in Stretford. These were either vocal references or direct additions to our physical event elevation.

The most common typology referred to was shopping, with most people mentioning the lack of independent shops. Closely behind came the lack of entertainment with people focusing on the lack of nightclubs and bars. Interestingly public toilets was also a large issue alongside a general sense of loss for the old King Street high street.
