Stretford is also well served by various transport links into the city centre and out towards Urmston and into Cheshire.

Stretford is the centre point for the intersection of a number of key cycle routes including the Manchester City Centre route, the 3 peaks and the Bridgewater Canal route. The mersey valley trail is also easily accessible from the town.

Heavily bombed during WW2 Stretfords town centre was rapidly replaced with Manchester ever expanding transport network, the A56, a major arterial road now cuts through the town centre
